We need you to be well-versed in custom WordPress development. To reduce confusion on what that means, we’ve listed out the specific knowledge, processes and tools we need you to be experienced with:

  1. WordPress as a CMS, it’s file structure and template hierarchy (pages, posts, archives, custom post types, taxonomies, single posts, sidebars)
  2. PHP (loops, conditions, namespaces, enqueuing, dequeuing, filters, actions)
  3. CSS (CSS Grid, Flexbox, Sass, media queries, keyframes, transitions, webkit prefixes)
  4. JS libraries (Slick, Packery, Masonry, Mixitin, FancyBox)
  5. Non-JS frameworks (Bootstrap, Foundations)
  6. HTML5 (as it relates to WordPress & general best development practices)
  7. Plugins (Advanced Custom Fields, WooCommerce, Yoast, Mailchimp, Gravity Forms, Stripe)
  8. SEO (as it relates to file and content structure to avoid crawling and indexing issues)
  9. Domain & email hosting (cPanel, Plesk, gSuite, 3rd party email setup, DNS manipulation, site migration, HTTPS/SSL)
  10. Adobe Suite (mainly Photoshop, but experience with Premier or AI would be a plus)

  1. Local development (Git versioning, Git Kraken, NPM, SequelPro, Homebrew, Bower, Gulp, Grunt, Docker, Composer, PostCSS, PIP, Ansible)

To be clear, we don’t purchase themes and tweak content to fit them… we research and strategize, and then build beautiful custom WordPress websites (from scratch) to deliver optimal results. Your main responsibility will be to maintain current projects and to turn PSDs into fully functioning and maintainable WordPress websites. As such, you’ll work directly with our team and designer as you help bridge the gap between design and function. You’ll need to show up on time (this is not a remote position), be dependable, take direction, work hard, and not take stuff personally. We are a laid back group, but we’re also very focused. So if you’re a slacker… don’t reply – we will not get along. Also, you will more than likely end up communicating with our clients, so your communication skills need to be sharp (both verbal and written).

If you’re STILL unclear on what you’re needed to do, then you’re probably not our guy/gal. But hey, if you’re raring to go or at least still interested, feel free to apply below. We’ll do our best to reply in a timely manner.
